I liked How To Make It In America. In its two seasons, it became embedded in my Sundays like Football and The Simpsons. I honestly don’t remember exactly why I started watching it — either cause KiD CuDi was emerging as one of my favorite artist and I want to see how he does this acting thing, or cause I wanted to catch a HBO show since I didn’t watch anything else they offered cause it would mid-series.. or both. It obviously catered to us younger folks than 30 and up. But most of us watched it on the Internet; I did, cause I don’t have movie channels.
So when I found out it got axed (Maybe reason why, all its viewers watched it for free, and don’t forget this), you’d think I would be mad. I’m still bitter over great shows such as Girlfriends (UPN/The CW), My Wife & Kids (ABC), and The Office (NBC— Well, not yet, but let’s face it, unless Michael Scott comes back, it’s headed down that road). But I wasn’t that upset, though I thought season two was good (Nude Lake Bell will do that, of course). I like what they did for S2, yet when it came to the season finale, I thought they should had some major cliffhanger between Ben and Cam that mad it seem like they weren’t going to be friends again, let alone still be in business with each other when Season 3 comes along.
But Season 3 isn’t coming. And now, with yet another cancellation of another show I like, I feel this will further aid to me not caring that much about TV shows, especially with the NFL Playoffs around the corner, College Basketball, and my NBA returning. Outside of the dying show Steve Carell left, MTV is the only channel that has shows I’ll watch. I don’t do Misfits, Dexter, Breaking Bad or whatever show I see constantly on my timeline (At least not until they’re on Netflix). Sure as hell not Basketball Wives and all that junk. But rather Sportscenter, NBA TV’s Game Time, and of course, Inside the NBA starting next week. Other than the evil MTV genius’, I’ll pass on most this other shit you people watch. At least until the off-season, I guess.
